ORTHOREBIRTH’s Microfiber Manufacturing Technology

Contributing to Regenerative Medicine
with Cotton Technology

Expansion into Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a field that utilizes the body’s own cells to restore functions and tissues lost due to injury or disease. Establishing such treatments requires the efficient cultivation of a large number of stem cells. Our company is dedicated to developing the optimal substrates needed to achieve this goal. One of our key research and development initiatives involves creating cell culture sheets based on cotton-derived materials with excellent bioabsorbability. This endeavor is clear evidence that we are making significant strides in the field of regenerative medicine.

Expanding
the Possibilities of Regenerative Medicine with Cotton Technology

ORTHOREBIRTH’s microfiber technology, which has produced cotton-shaped artificial bone, has potential applications across various fields. Our microfiber offers two significant advantages: high bioabsorbability and its micrometer-scale fibrous chunks, which are optimal as scaffolding material. Utilizing these characteristics, we have commercialized stem cell culture sheets and are developing a new medicine that promotes bone regeneration - a hybrid of cotton-shaped artificial bone containing β-TCP and a specialized protein. We take pride in contributing to the field of regenerative medicine.
Furthermore, we are continuing our research on drug delivery systems (DDS), where medications are incorporated into cotton-like materials and applied directly to the affected area. ORTHOREBIRTH’s microfiber manufacturing technology continues to expand its applications, benefitting patients worldwide.

Soft Artificial Bone

Although it is an artificial bone, our cotton-shaped artificial bone is not hard. It is a soft artificial bone made of intertwined fibers, similar to cotton. This material is easier to handle compared to solid or granular artificial bones. The quantity can be easily adjusted to match the shape and size of the bone defect. Additionally, it is notable that the material is absorbed into the body and gradually replaced by the patient’s own bone. Our cotton-shaped artificial bone is sold in the United States, Taiwan, and Japan, and has been successfully used in orthopedic surgeries, particularly in trauma and spinal procedures.

Efficient Cell Culturing
and Cost Reduction
This innovation is the crystallization of
our bioabsorbable microfiber technology

Our microfiber scaffolding material manufacturing technology has garnered significant attention from universities, research institutions, and companies involved in regenerative medicine.
The already commercialized “Stem Cell Extraction Culture Sheet for Research” has been shown to accelerate cell proliferation when used as a scaffolding material for cell culture. Its high bioabsorbability allows for the cultured cell sheets to be implanted directly into the body. This innovative approach is expected to revolutionize cell culture, which has traditionally been time-consuming and costly.
